Nima Media is pleased to announce the launch of I’Mpossible Film Festival, a new international festival dedicated to human-led AI cinema.
The first edition, The Unfilmable Edition, is now open for submissions and focuses on films that use AI in a meaningful creative way to bring difficult, risky, censored, expensive or previously unfilmable stories to the screen.
The festival was founded by Nima Akbarpour, whose work has long sat between technology, journalism, film and storytelling. I’Mpossible Film Festival brings these worlds together in one project.
The festival is not about AI replacing filmmakers, actors, writers, cinematographers, editors or designers. It is about human authorship, creative direction and editorial control. We are interested in films where AI is not used as decoration or shortcut, but as a tool that helps make the story possible.
Some stories are not unmade because they lack talent or imagination. They remain unmade because the location is forbidden, the people cannot safely appear on camera, the archive does not exist, the filmmaker is in exile, or the memory is real but no camera was there.
I’Mpossible Film Festival is looking for work that engages with this new creative border.
The festival accepts AI-assisted and AI-generated films across categories including short film, microfilm, documentary reconstruction, experimental film, music video, exile and memory, and unfilmable stories.
